A wine glass in hand, friends around and a lake view that invites you to dream; wineries overlooking Swiss lakes feel like a vacation and do the soul good.
Why does it often have wineries around bodies of water?
In general, water has the ability to absorb or release heat - without changing its own temperature too quickly. This ability naturally influences the general climatic conditions at a location. Whether in the form of winds or the effect that sunlight radiates in the water and can thus be warming.
This influence in combination with soil conditions is known to the winemakers and of course they try to use it for their own viticulture: Be it in the decision of the grape variety, how to make the annual pruning or even how to cut the foliage. The factor water can be used correctly so to an advantage. Did you know? We have visited all the wineries on winemap and know: A visit is always worthwhile (!).
